VMS, Inc., the company that pioneered privatized highway asset management, was founded in 1995 to provide innovative and money-saving solutions to the preservation of infrastructure.

During our first four years of operation VMS grew rapidly, executing thirteen contracts with the state transportation departments in Virginia, South Carolina, Utah, Texas and Alaska.

Our key service is providing highway asset management operations covering a total of more than 3,000 lane miles in four states. This includes VMS's innovative public-private partnership with the Virginia Department of Transportation-- the first project in which a private firm assumed full responsibility for comprehensive maintenance of significant portions of a state's interstate highway system. The other eight contracts were for maintaining a total of 96 buildings, view areas, and welcome centers.

VMS is being recognized worldwide for our services. Transportation entities from all over the United States and abroad have visited VMS to observe our asset
management approach. Countries such as Australia, Morocco, Vietnam, and the UK have sent delegations to learn from our team of highly experienced engineers and managers.

Local municipalities are also finding the VMS approach to be advantageous and cost-effective. Many cities, towns and counties have approached VMS to perform similar services in those localities.
